Spring floods bring visitors

Living on the Grand River in Cayuga, we always get flooded a few times a year when the snow and ice melts.

This usually brings us a few visitors … we came home last night to see (and hear!) hundreds of white geese on the flats. They lulled us to sleep and woke us up this morning as well.

Though we’ll have plenty of fencing to fix before the cows can get out to pasture this spring with the damage the water/ice/logs/etc brings, there are some cool things as well! We saw quite a few cars to stop to take in the sights this weekend.

Spring Calves

Hopefully you’re following us on our Facebook page, which we update and post on more frequently, but if not – enjoy these snaps of our first 7 2019 calves 🙂 We had 3 heifers and 4 steers.

Take it as a compliment if one is named after you – these were named after most of Ally’s friends!

Your meat will come boxed (usually 3 boxes) with individual steaks/roasts/ground beef in vacumn-sealed bags. You can choose how many steaks or pounds per package, and we will also marinate steaks and roasts if you desire! You can choose certain options: if you prefer roasts, we’ll cut less steaks; or vice-versa. You can do patties or ground beef, or a mix. You can choose thickness (we recommend 1″ minimum). Len worked in a butcher shop for many years and can effectively advise you on your choices within the possible options for your family and preferences as he truly knows both sides of raising and butchering cattle.

Our beef are fed a mix of corn and grass based ingredients, based on their age, to create optimal marbling and taste results. They are hormone and antibiotic free! We have consultation with a “bovine dietician” to create the recipe for their feed. Most of what our cattle eat is grown right on our farm!

Check our Facebook reviews – no one has been disappointed!
